MINI CRICKET, SOCCER, NETBALL
Mini Soccer practice for Grades 1, 2 and 3 takes place in the Second Term. Our annual Foundation Phase tournament (which includes Mini-Netball) is a fun filled Saturday morning in August, with a number of neighbouring schools participating. For this event Selcourt Primary fields two teams per grade. The focus is on enjoyment, team spirit, developing a love for the game and making new friends. This tournament is part of the tradition of our school.
Current coaches are Ms Naidoo, Mrs Makwe and Ms Boucher.
Cricket at Selcourt Primary School has always been of an exceptional standard and it usually starts with Mini Cricket. We aspire to develop young cricketers and instil in them a love for the game. We are fortunate to be sponsored by KFC who provide bats, balls, wickets and branded T-Shirts for matches. Each team consists of 8 players who all have an opportunity to bat, bowl and field. It is played in the Foundation Phase accommodating the U/7, U/8 and U/9 age groups. Practices start at the beginning of the third term where aspiring cricketers are taken through their paces by dedicated coaches. Weekly matches are played against local schools where the boys have always represented their school with pride.
